On this short factsheet ICLEI Europe has summarised 3 very useful planning tools for heating and cooling:
- The THERMOS (Thermal Energy Resource Modelling and Optimisation System) tool, which provides advanced energy system data and models in a user-friendly open-source software to make heat network planning faster, more efficient, and more cost effective.
- Peta4 is the Pan European Thermal Atlas, which provides a geographic representation of low-carbon heating and cooling demands in 14 EU Member States, excess heat potentials, prospective district heating networks, availability of renewable energy resources such as geothermal, solar irradiation, biomass and more.
- The KeepWarm Learning Centre, which is pooling resources and solutions on district heating in Europe and beyond. This includes a large selection of training materials developed or collected by project partners, but also reports, materials with datasheets, analysis, policy recommendations, as well as business models, funding sources, project development and implementation steps characteristic for each of the technological solutions.
